I need to know stuff about Websites and hosting?

2012 February 21

Warning! You know how many UK business owners and bloggers rushed into getting hosting services for their business just based on advertisements they saw on TVs, magazines or other mass media? They ended up regretting their purchase as 99% hosting companies out there are not very reliable at all.

I’m 13 Year olds and learnt Html and a bit of javascript. I want to know what is a good hosting domain website? I actually know nothing of these sites I know thery’ve got something to do with buying .com, co.uk etc. This may sound daft but do you make the website on the domain hosting website too? Im so confused. As u can probably tell I’m experience with making websites only with drag and drop elements. Erm, another thing I want to know what Cloud hosting is my mate talks about it, don’t have a clue what that means… Is there a place i can learn about domain hosting and that. I’m so confused. It’s probably simple to you lot and think this dudes thick Lol. But yeah please tell me :S

The above is a frequently-asked problem we get from our web design clients in United Kingdom.

You are not alone. Here is a secret we learn from experienced web developers – web server location is secondary. Web hosting is one of the most important part of your online presence, regardless of your geographical location.

To answer the above common question, here are 7 things to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:

  1. should have excellent support via live chat, phone and online ticket system,
  2. gives more-than-enough storage,
  3. offers no limit on bandwidth,
  4. gives multiple add-on domains,
  5. has friendly Site Builder,
  6. has Fantastico and QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
  7. can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of their cheap dedicated server plans if and when your business require.

Answering the above question, more than 80% of experienced Webmasters recommend Hostgator. If you need an “unlimited” hosting plan, 9 out of 10 web design experts will go with Hostgator because they are the best best domain host in the world today.

You should read some Hostgator reviews on the web. We tried them many years ago because of their amazingly long, 45 days money back guarantee. You have ample time to test them out. They are rated A+ by Better Business Bureau (BBB) which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction.

What Hostgator Does Not Want Their Full Paying Customer to Know

You can try their fully functional hosting service and pay only $0.01 (you need to use the special coupon below). Remember you have 45 days to cancel. Do you know any other hosting company that can give you that kind of assurance? You can grab an account from Hostgator for almost FREE.

If you have been to their website lately, HostGator is having a 20% off sale right now. However, we got a better deal for you. Just enter SERVERHOSTING in the coupon code field when you buy any HostGator hosting plan and you’ll get it for 25% off! We did not find out about this discount when we got our Baby plan. You consider yourself lucky for getting these coupon codes to use.

Why to Avoid Hostgator

Hostgator is not without shortcomings.

  1. They do not give free domain name although you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Namecheap or Godaddy for $10 or less.

    Check domain availability:

    www.

  2. You will pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost. If you want to save the most, use the 25% coupon and pay as long as possible.

If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. They are available anytime, so your location is not relevant.

Plenty of people experience the same confusion, in fact probably everybody until someone explains it to them.
There are three basic elements to a website:
    1. Domain name (yourname.com .net . co and so on..) This must be bought from a domain registration service – most will also offer hosting, but this is a separate service (see below) that does NOT have to be bought from the same place
    2. Hosting package – this is space on a server somewhere in the world that will hold all your pages, pictures and files/scripts. The ‘DNS’ settings of your domain will ‘point’ at this server.
    3. Website elements – made up of HTML, PHP, scipts, pictures, databases etc.. It is important that your hosting package is compatible with your planned website. eg. if you plan a WordPress website, check that your hosting can handle WordPress – if you plan to use PHP, check what version of PHP will work on your host server. The software that is loaded onto your host server may dictate what sort of site you can have.

I wrote a short article on the services that I use on the link below:

and one on pointing your domain at your server:
